This guy’s portraits are quite lovely. The stories that go with them are sometimes amazing.

I recommend the Tibetan collection:

Kunsang, 29, and Duchen, 6 mos
Kunsang walked 25 days, crossing the Himalays with her baby boy on her back. She said “I want him to grow up in a Tibetan culture and get a proper education. At this time this is not possible for us Tibetans in our own country”. This photo was taken two weeks after they arrived in Nepal en route to India.

I also liked the story and portrait of native American Roy Pete, 44, of the Navajo:

When he was a child, Roy Pete had “visions of my people coming home.” Having attended powwows now for 20 years, he says many feelings come up while dancing in the ceremonial circle. “You come to an understanding that you are part of a much larger process and very connected to it,” he told me. “It is such a feeling of returning.” Roy works as a software engineer in Wyoming.
