“neither beginnings nor endings” (time, pt 4)
Robert Jordan has a life-threatening disease. I am now two books behind in the Wheel of Time series, which I started reading in 1996. (Holy crap that was a decade ago!*) I’ll probably have to start over before going forward, but I haven’t had the time to do this since going back to school. He has one more book to publish in the WoT series, and about “thirty years” of writing yet to do, and he says he is “going to finish all of those books, all of them, and that is that.”
I’m sure I’m not alone in hoping for the best result from the treatment he will be receiving in the next month. Good luck, Mr. Jordan.

I’m about half way done with Knife of Dreams. The problem is that I bought it in hardback, and since I travel so much with so much luggage, I can never bring it with me!
And there’s also that when book n comes out, I forget wtf happened in the prior n-1 books. I actually went back and re-read them all, at one point!

How about an online signup sheet in support of Jordan’s recovery? It would be a statement of support for all of us.

Yeah, I guess that’s an advantage of falling behind. For a while there I was having to buy the hardback versions and they are a pain to lug around.
There’s such a huge fanbase, I’m sure someone will be setting up online statements of support and online i-will-donate-a-kidney sheets and so on.

I haven’t been able to bring myself to read the Knife of Dreams, because I disliked Book 10 so much (there’s a rant on my blog about it somewhere) — not that that should discourage you from reading it! I’m sure I won’t be able to keep away forever; it’s too addictive.
Sad to hear he’s sick, though.
