I started reading the Wheel of Time series over 10 years ago. It was never meant to last this long, but it is and will remain unfinished, at least by the author’s own hand: Robert Jordan died today.
Thank you, RJ. You were brilliant.

As a fantasy novel reader myself, I’d kept hearing about the series from friends who were longtime fans. All of them told me to stay away from the series, and most of them were betting that he would not live to finish it. Sad news indeed, and whoever picks up the series for him (if anybody does) has no small task in front of him/her.

It’s very sad that he died - I definitely feel for his family. I’ll definitely have to re-read the series sometime, or at least the first 5 or so - they were pretty damn awesome. The latter books kind of ticked me off, although I’m sure I’ll read the last one once they hire a ghostwriter to piece it together from his notes.

Agreed about the last few books. I couldn’t get through the prologue of whatever came after Winter’s Heart. Capitalist greed doing its thing.
But yes, if/when the last one comes out I may start them again from the beginning.
