Beauty seems to always end too soon for some reason. Sometimes I think “That’s just how it is – the great moments always pass fleetingly.” But then I see a lot of people who seem to be in the midst of it all the time, and I wonder if it’s just me.

Re: Kev – I wish I had wonderful bits of insight to share, but it seems all I have to offer is remnants of drama… It is an interesting approach that you’re trying though, but I think it makes little difference to me because I always seem to be in need of it – whatever “it” may be – as soon as it’s available. I’m always living without any savings, it seems.

Y’know, I saw you had posted something, and I made myself hold back from immediately clicking over here and reading. I’ve been doing that lately with different things: a new story from a favorite but not-oft published writer, a new song from a band I love- I’ve been delaying the experience till I need it, till the time is right instead of gobbling it up immediately only to have that first experience with it gone sooner than I want. I only spent a day waiting to read your entry, but I’m glad I did- right now was the right time, somehow.

Sorry for the blathering. I mainly wanted to say thanks for putting this up. It felt/feels vital, important, relevant. I’ve been sad to see my friends drift away from blogging, losing the experience of those beautifully-written entries, those wonderful bits of insight that make me nod in empathy.

Your statement that the bible isn’t likely to change needs revision. It changes every time the church decides to conform it to the current dogma. The Saint James version was “revised” (i.e. reinterpreted) in my lifetime.

To the creationist I say that “God” may well have chosen matter/energy/time and evolution as His/Her modus operandus. So it is not either/or.

You are so right in my opinion that both science and religion are or should be engaged as methodologies rather than as sets of beliefs.

Interestingly enough, a lot of it also has to do with whether the government treats the people as children or as adults too. No more lying to us like adults do to children in an attempt to keep people calm or to make us think that they have all the answers. The trick, though, is to make people realize that all of this good is happening in spite of their fixation on the continuing recession.

At home, in front of the computer, as my sister yelled from downstairs “He won!” Of course, I had peeled myself away from the television earlier after seeing that he had 207 electoral votes with California not even counted. I knew it was in the bag.

Oddly enough, the speech that drove me to tears was not of the victor, but of the one who lost. It was the first time since I’d started paying attention to the campaigns that I felt both respect and compassion for the man. As crazy or inept as he was, I got the feeling that he was genuinely trying to do what he thought was good for his country.

I then spent the rest of the night nervously monitoring the Prop 8 results as they slowly trickled in. By the end of the night, I wondered why I even bothered.
